ENEMATA
An enema is the injection of fluid into the rectum and colon. The following are basic instructions for plain water enemata:
I. ARTICLES NECESSARY In therapy room:
1. One (1) sheet
2. Enema can with rubber tubing and stopcock.
3. Arduous rubber enema tip.
4. Lubricant.
5. Toilet paper. Further, in room:
1. One (1) therapy blanket.
2. Enema standard.
3. Bedpan and cover.
4. Rubber sheet and towel.

II. PROCEDURE In therapy room:
1. Put together gear and solution. Place can two and one-half to 4 toes above patient.
2. Place patient in position.
Positions used: Dorsal, Sims’, Knee-chest.
3. Lubricate the tip.
4. Expel the air by permitting water to run via the tip until the water is identical temperature as in the can.
5. Have patient insert tip until very sick or unable to do so.
6. When the desired amount of water has been given, close the stopcock and remove the tip.

In room:
